This is the most interesting experiment I have got with memrise app. Let me see...I learn about 10 new words a day. It also has a friend- grammabot help you to review old words by have a chat with you. For example , it will say hello to you and by the same time it will review structure too. It's amazing, isn't it?. It's divided many levels and topics . For instance, the first topic will be about :" nice to meet you" like salut, enchanter... ( French), in the second topic will be talk about " you and I" like vous , je , elle..it always make you excited to learn the next level ! Despite of this app is free but you can find it is so useful for you to learn language. It is divided logically in 4 parts: learn, find, pro and profile. In learning, you can learn follow Level . It depends on lesson : maybe in level one you should have 100 words. In level 2, you will achieve 249 words . It likes a game . You 're always want to get higher and higher level! It challenge you ! It takes your time but you will satisfy with it because it gives you knowledge and joyful when you studying . I never get bored whenever I use this app!

Very interesting Minh Duc. How would you evaluate this app against Thornbury and Chapelle's principles that we studies in class?

According to Thornbury , we need feedback to improve our knowledge and understanding, without the feedback from the teacher in the class , we will have no idea about our problem. Therefore, how can you know your problem if you make a mistake? In this app, if you type wrong words , it will help you by showing the red light and help you by asking: " do you want to study this word ?" If you say " yes" , it will show the meaning again for you. Amazing! However , Chapelle's has difference view , she believes the perfect solution is that it includes five methods: input, output , interaction, feedback, motivation. The best thing about this app is that it has a lot of input words at difference levels . And output is when you get a reward if you have got the correct answer. About interaction of this app, maybe this is the weakest point because there is no any kind of contact between you and this program! Feedback is ok. Motivation is the best thing, It will remind you if you forget to study new words , it will remind you through email . And , there will some old words for you reviewing. It will stay in your long - term memory!
ReplyDeleteOkay, thanks for evaluating along those terms. Chapelle asks that you evaluate three times, once on its own, once with a lesson plan and once after. This is hard to do in your context here in Australia, but keep it in mind for when you return to Vietnam and to your classes!
